Chevron reported third-quarter earnings of $9.9 billion, a near-triple increase from the previous year, as reported by Oilprice.com. The supermajor's downstream operations provided substantial support, generating $4.93 billion in profits, which is more than four times the total from the same period last year. Adjusted earnings for the quarter reached $10.4 billion, exceeding Wall Street projections of $4.89 per share.
Concurrently, Oilprice.com notes that Chevron is raising its exploration budget by 50%. This capital injection marks a strategic return to high-impact frontier exploration, intended to diversify the company's global portfolio beyond its traditional production strongholds in the U.S. Permian shale basin and the Gulf of Mexico.
This expanded exploration effort focuses on South America, Africa, and the Eastern Mediterranean. By targeting new reserves in countries including Guyana, Angola, Namibia, Nigeria, and Guinea-Bissau, the company seeks to secure long-term production growth and portfolio renewal.
