A little help
from the herd.
Everything you need to get comfortable in DinoSnot’s Chrome sidebar.
Open your field station
Once the extension is installed, open Chrome’s Extensions menu, pin DinoSnot, then click the DinoSnot icon. Chrome opens the side panel alongside the current page. Chrome 116 or newer is required.
Find your way around
- Radar: select a benchmark, inspect its chart, change the date range, view observations, or download CSV. Star markets to save them.
- Markets: search the full catalog and filter by category or collection. Every price shows its currency and unit.
- Daily Dig: browse published energy stories. Open a story to read the full article and sources on DinoSnot.
- Field guide: learn the basics, follow data sources, and read the privacy policy.
Why do some prices look old?
Futures, daily spot series, weekly retail data, and monthly averages publish on different schedules. A monthly benchmark is not an intraday quote. Check the timestamp, source, delivery month, and unit. Some quotes may be delayed, and markets close. DinoSnot labels stale or missing data.
How do price alerts work?
Use the bell button, choose a market and an at-or-above or at-or-below threshold, then save. Alerts appear inside the sidebar when a fresh quote meets the threshold. They check while the sidebar is open and visible with updates running. There are no background checks, desktop notifications, emails, or trade execution. An alert stays with its original feed and futures contract; create a new one after a contract roll.
Why does the chart differ from the latest quote?
Short ranges may show a specific delivery contract, while longer archives can use rolling futures. Spot and monthly series have their own definitions. The chart’s source and series note explain the selected history. CSV files include source, interval, unit, symbol, and license information when supplied.
The feed will not load
Check your internet connection and open dinosnot.com. In the sidebar settings, resume updates if they are paused, then refresh. A rate-limit message means to wait briefly before retrying. When available, saved quotes remain visible with an offline label. Contact us if failures persist.
Where are my settings stored?
In Chrome’s local extension storage on this device. They do not sync to an account. You can unstar markets, delete individual alerts, or remove the extension to clear its stored data. See the privacy policy for request logging and other details.
